Ballyhoura Development is inviting those with an interest in land, habitats and biodiversity to take part in a short survey as part of the PolliConnect project.

Participants are encouraged to share their experiences with grass-cutting practices and wild pollinators. This input will play an important role in shaping future work and supporting more effective approaches to habitat management.

Share your experience

You’re invited to complete a short, anonymous survey to share your experiences with land and habitat management.

Your input will help guide work to improve habitats for wild pollinators across the Ballyhoura area, and more broadly with partners across North-West Europe through the PolliConnect project.

About the PolliConnect project

PolliConnect, funded by the Interreg North-West Europe Programme, is working to improve biodiversity by strengthening and connecting habitats for wild pollinators — including solitary bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and other native insects.

The project focuses on supporting wild pollinator species, rather than managed honeybees kept in hives.

Across North-West Europe, many wild pollinators are in decline due to:

  • Habitat fragmentation
  • Changes in land management
  • Soil degradation
  • Agricultural pressures

At the same time, many potential ecological corridors between habitats remain underused — often due to a lack of clear guidance or practical challenges in adopting new approaches.

PolliConnect is exploring practical and innovative ways to:

  • Improve management of grasslands, wetlands and flower-rich areas
  • Strengthen connections between habitats across the landscape
  • Support biodiversity through local action

This work is being developed through a network of Living Labs, where local partners collaborate, test ideas, and share learning from real-world experience.
