Community Workshops and Training

Ballyhoura Development facilitates and offers a wide range of training and workshops to support community organisations.

The training can be requested by local community groups for delivery in their own communities. The courses typically consist of 2 to 3 sessions lasting about 2 hours each. The training can be delivered over a number of sessions (1-4) and can be tailored to meet the needs of your organization.

Some of the training options include:

Influencing Policy and Decision Makers from a Community Perspective with a Community Plan

This training is designed for community groups that have a Community Plan in place. The training will support communities in measuring and demonstrating local achievements in the context of a Community Plan.

Learn how Ireland’s policy making system works in practice and how your local community and the voluntary organisations can influence it.

Idea Generation for Community Organisations

In this training, community groups will learn how to transform an idea into a successful project through practical innovation and creative thinking tools.

It will assist the community organisation in turning challenges into opportunities, identifying and developing assets in the community, and initiating the planning process.

Project Planning for Community Organisations

Develop community-based sustainable projects and services.

This training will support community organisations in developing comprehensive project plans.

This includes market research, feasibility studies, budgeting and finance, sustainable fundraising, funding applications, and measuring and evaluating success.

Story Telling for Community Organisations

Do you have a story to tell?

This training will assist participants in identifying and creating compelling stories about their community or project, as well as explain why such stories are compelling.

It will help determine the target audience and utilise a variety of media platforms, including interview skills and techniques.

Governance & Committee Skills for Community Organisations

This training will help community organisation explore its main responsibilities and best practices in terms of governance, management, and operations.

Working directly with the community organisation, it will investigate the different roles of board/committee members, develop a code of conduct, keep a record of meetings, and examine how to facilitate effective meetings.

Managing and Maintaining Standard Governance Documents for Community Organisations

This training programme will support community organisations to identify documents needed for the standard governance.

It will explain how and where to store those documents utilising cloud storage platforms, taking into account GDPR requirements and digital security.
