The Ballyhoura Growers’ Project is expanding and is now inviting charitable organisations in the Ballyhoura region to be part of this innovative project.

Participating organisations benefit from weekly deliveries of Irish-grown nutritious vegetables, supporting the services you provide while helping your food budget to go further.

Since October 2024, Ballyhoura Development has been implementing this project in the region, in partnership with Foodcloud, to support charitable organisations with their food needs, across both East Limerick and North Cork.

How to Participate:

Organisations interested in participating in the Ballyhoura Grower's Project should meet the following criteria:

  • Have charitable status

  • Use or distribute fresh vegetables via your service

  • Operate within the Ballyhoura region

Eligible organisations may include:

  • Voluntary Housing Associations

  • Family Resource Centres

  • Care Facilities

  • Community-centred food distribution initiatives, etc.

Since its launch, the Ballyhoura Growers’ Project has made a significant impact. In the final quarter of 2024, the project distributed 2,680 kg of vegetables, equating to 1,126 meals provided (weight equivalent) and 6,164 kg of CO2 equivalent saved. The project supported 6 charitable organisations, improving food access across the Ballyhoura region.

Looking Ahead

The project has already seen an even greater impact in 2025 and is eager to work with more organisations as the service grows.

The service will be paused during the summer months as the project awaits the new season's harvest in August/September, when the Project will recommence, making this the ideal time for interested organisations to get in touch and learn how they can benefit from the project.
