Edible Container Planting for your Community Ballyhoura Development is inviting 12 community groups to take part in a hands-on learning opportunity focused on edible planting. This initiative aims to show how edible plants can complement traditional planting, enhance the beauty of community spaces, support biodiversity, and transform small areas into sources of fresh, locally grown food. Each participating group may nominate two members to attend an interactive workshop. Guided by a horticulturist, participants will: plant a container filled with edible plants, flowers and biodiversity-friendly bedding plants, learn about how best to incorporate edible elements into existing planting schemes, explore the principles of edible gardening, and gain practical tips on ongoing care. Workshops will be delivered in small groups of six, allowing for a more personal and practical experience. When & Where? Dates: Tuesday, 24th June & Wednesday, 25th June Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM Location: Ahern Nurseries & Plant Centre, Sherins Cross, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick Ballyhoura Development is particularly interested in working with groups who wish to explore edible planting further—whether by creating small herb pantries or launching other community food projects, with support provided by Ballyhoura Development over the coming year.
