Ballyhoura Development was proud to host an inspiring morning workshop as part of the YESDGs – Youth Empowerment for the Sustainable Development Goals project, welcoming participants from across Europe alongside a special group of local students from Coláiste Iósaef in Kilmallock.

Students from the Business Studies class at Coláiste Iósaef actively engaged in the event, which featured a keynote session by Alex Whyatt from Global Action Plan. This 90-minute presentation was not only informative but also highly interactive, demonstrating the connections between global challenges and local action.

Through dynamic activities and real-world examples, participants explored how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are interlinked and how young people can play a pivotal role in shaping a more sustainable future. Students also had the opportunity to connect with sustainability leaders from Ireland, Portugal, Lithuania, Belgium, Greece, and Italy, gaining valuable insights into youth-led initiatives supported by the Erasmus+ programme.

“This project has shown again the power and potential of young people, when they’re provided with the tools and support to lead,” said Rhiannon Laubach, Development Officer at Ballyhoura Development.

The workshop celebrated the legacy and impact of the YESDGs project in empowering young people to become active citizens and climate leaders.

Ballyhoura Development extends its thanks to Coláiste Iósaef for their enthusiastic participation and to all European partners who contributed to this valuable exchange of knowledge and ideas.
