Are you interested in wildlife, gardening, or how our landscapes can better support nature?

Join us for a  PolliConnect Focus Group in the Ballyhoura area and share your experience, insights, and ideas to help support wild pollinators in our local communities.

This is an opportunity to be part of a practical, locally focused conversation, helping to shape how we protect and connect habitats for pollinators across Ballyhoura.

Why Attend?

Pollinators — including bumblebees, solitary bees, and butterflies — play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems and supporting food production. However, they are under increasing pressure.

Pressures such as habitat fragmentation, changes in land management, soil degradation, and wider agricultural and environmental impacts have all contributed to their decline.

At the same time, many of our local green spaces - from gardens and parks to farms, roadside verges, wetlands, and field margins — have real potential to better support pollinators and act as important stepping stones across the Ballyhoura landscape.

By attending, you will:

  • Share your local knowledge and experiences
  • Help identify practical actions that can make a real difference
  • Explore opportunities to improve habitats and connectivity in the Ballyhoura area
  • Contribute to shaping future biodiversity initiatives locally

All contributions will be confidential and anonymised.

What We’ll Discuss

The focus group will explore:

  • Current land management and maintenance practices
  • Awareness and understanding of wild pollinators
  • The role of gardens, farms, and community spaces in supporting biodiversity
