Fundraising Skills for Community Groups

Fundraising from sources other than grants is increasingly vital to provide the funds needed for your group's projects – or to raise match funding to ensure eligibility for grants. Learning to fundraise well can reduce dependency on a single source, by empowering you to reach a wider range of individuals and organisations. Community fundraising also builds a sense of ownership and loyalty, involving supporters in the process of fundraising for your community project.

• Various options/platforms for community fundraising, both traditional and innovative

• Online fundraising platforms for community groups

• How to tell your story – leveraging your work on the ground to attract donations

• Who to approach and how – friends, community, business, diaspora

• Planning and running fundraising events

• Importance of annual calendar and project teams with clearly outlined actions, responsibilities, and timelines
