Traveller Health Breakfast Morning Supports Community Wellbeing A successful Traveller Health Breakfast Morning was held on Thursday, May 7th at the Kilmallock Pastoral Centre, bringing together members of the local Traveller community for a morning focused on health, wellbeing, and community connection. The drop-in event provided attendees with access to a range of free health checks and supports, including blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, foot care advice, and healthy eating guidance. Specialist healthcare professionals in attendance included a Diabetes Nurse Specialist, Podiatrist, Dietician, and Heart Health Nurse. The morning also provided an opportunity for attendees to connect with the Primary Healthcare Project team, learn more about available supports, and engage in conversations around overall health and wellbeing while enjoying a healthy breakfast together. A total of 20 people attended the event, with six participants referred to their GP for high blood pressure and one referred for high blood sugar following health checks carried out on the day. The event highlighted the importance of accessible, community-based healthcare initiatives and the value of creating welcoming spaces where people can access support, information, and early intervention services. The Traveller Health Breakfast Morning was supported by the HSE and delivered in partnership with the Primary Healthcare Team. East Limerick Traveller Project Manage Cookie Preferences
